Stonehenge

Traveling through England 1980

This morning we took the 11 a. m. bus to Stonehenge and spent about an hour there.

It is beautiful, graceful, symmetrical, powerful.  In a way it is kind of eerie but impressive.

You just stand there wondering what it means and why it is there and how it got to be there.

It being roped off, I think adds to it.  It stands alone, quite, peaceful, apart.  You can see it better without people meandering through it.

I don’t see how anybody could go see it and not be impressed.

  1. I was not prepared for the presence of that magnificent structure. I saw it two years ago, and I did not expect to “feel” anything while viewing it. But there is something hypnotic about those rocks – there is a power there that draws you into it. I literally could have spent all day just standing there and gazing upon it. It’s an amazing sight.
